Beer Fest ’09, An explanation.

Hello! A Happy New Year 2009 to you all.

Quite a few people have been asking me if we are doing the beer festival this year and “Why Not?” when I tell them no!

Simply, we were already booked for Saturday the 28th of February and the organisers could not (or would not) rearrange for us to do the Friday so we can’t do it even though we would have loved to.

As a result we have booked ourselves to play the Alexandra in Harrogate (ex Rat & Parrot) on Thursday the 5th of March instead. We hope to see you all there. It was a real blast to be back in public last October. Looking on the bright-side, it won’t cost you anything to come and see us at the Alex so you’ll have more spare money to give to Comic Relief! :-)

We promise to have some new songs and some new old songs dusted off by then so now’s your chance to get your requests in.

I Hope to see you then.

Love Dave.

New Year, New Website

So here it is, a new look website . . . I’m still working on the finer points but you get the idea.

For the past couple of years I have been the only member of Doctor Thirsty with the ability or inclination to add content to the website, That has now changed! Standby by for regular updates from all of the Doctor Thirsty boys as they muse about life, the universe . . . and everything.

That Was 2007!

2007 was an eventful year for Doctor Thirsty, We saw the new year in with a bang, Blasting out a set of favourites for the Bad Manners Badminton clubs New years eve dinner dance and that’s how we ended the year too . . . awesome, It is a massive compliment to be invited back to play year after year and I am constantly astounded at how much ‘repeat’ business we do, I’m not complaining though. ;)

March saw the first ‘public’ show for Doctor Thirsty for over two years, The annual beer festival was the event and it didn’t disappoint, the evening was a sell out with over a thousand tickets sold and the band rocked . . .

The year flew by with weddings, balls and parties through to August where we took an extended break whilst Tango took the time to adapt to being a Father.

The second half of the year was purposefully quiet, giving time to Tango to learn how to change nappies, and the band to break in a new drummer . . .

In September Chris ‘Conga’ Wilson decided to take his sticks to pastures new after 5 years of bashing the skins for Doctor Thirsty so in came Nige Harrison, Veteran of the Harrogate music scene and a jolly nice chap.

In December we were joined by long time friend of the band Mark ‘Ramsey’ Wharton for a few shows as big Nige had other commitments to fulfil. A Big thanks to Mark for doing an outstanding job.

Last but not least Paul and Jeff a.k.a Project Systems, Providers of the awesome sound and lighting show and resident DJ’s for Doctor Thirsty decided to retire from the Sound and Lighting game after more than 100 gigs with the Doctor and put thier feet up for a well deserved rest.

Our best wishes go to Chris, Paul and Jeff.

Wow . . . what a year.

New Blood!

September saw the end of an era for Doctor Thirsty, King of rhythm Chris ‘Conga’ Wilson banged his last drum and left for pastures new, But every cloud has a silver lightning ( or is it lining? ) and after several large Jack Daniels ‘Big’ Nige Harrison agreed to beat the skins for us, I can’t begin to list Nige’s musical history so for now I’ll put a link in for his own website and let you read all about him.
